Environment And Community Initiatives

Past Initiatives
At Cordwells, we haven’t always kept a record of the projects we’ve supported. We simply enjoy helping our surrounding communities. We are now adding this section to our website to highlight our contributions and help more people learn about the outstanding projects we’ve proudly supported.

The Daniel Morcombe Foundation’s Build it for the Kids Project 2025
We proudly supported The Murphy Group and The Daniel Morcombe Foundation by providing over 113 cubic meters of ready-mix concrete for their Build It For The Kids Project. Every dollar of profit from the sale of the home goes directly to the Daniel Morcombe Foundation and their mission.
Water Control
Our Yandina plant uses a fully recycled water system and large underground storage tanks. Additionally, our Caloundra plant features a dust extraction system that captures all water, with a storage capacity of 80,000 liters.

Native Tree Revegetation (Kin Kin Quarry)
The first stage of the Koala Habitat Rehabilitation Program at Cordwells Kin Kin Quarry was completed in October 2022, with 11,900 trees and shrubs planted to establish new Core Koala Habitat. These plantings improved food and shelter availability, strengthened habitat connectivity across the Kin Kin landscape, and increased onsite Eucalyptus diversity. The rehabilitation also reduced edge effects from ecological disturbances such as weed incursion. Improved habitat linkages now enable koalas to move from fragmented northern areas to higher quality habitat in the south and southeast of the project area. Ongoing onsite efforts include long-term management of invasive weeds in Eucalyptus bushland through Assisted Regeneration and direct planting. This program represents the start of a significant conservation outcome for the site, creating extensive high-quality koala habitat to support the endangered species (EPBC and NC Act) and other native fauna, including gliders, possums, birds, reptiles, and bats both onsite and in the surrounding landscape.

Native Tree Revegetation (Chavallum Quarry)
On 23 May 2022, we planted over 6,000 locally sourced native trees at the Cordwell Resources sand extraction plant in Chevallum as part of a site rehabilitation project to restore native vegetation.

Austraila's First Scrommel (Concrete Reclaimer)
On 16 July 2012, we held the grand opening of the first Scrommel (Concrete Reclaimer) installed in Australia at our Yandina concrete plant. This system enables us to reclaim materials and water from returned waste, allowing them to be recycled.
